Volunteer for a PTA Committee
Below is a list of various PTA committees that operate throughout the year at different times. Selecting interest in a committee does not mean you are required to participate, only that you will be contacted when the time comes and if you are still interested or available to volunteer.
At-Home Help-Perfect for the person who can't be at school during the day but wants to help. Would be cutting out lamination, stapling or assembling various projects as needed.
Fall Book Fair-Committee members help decorate library, help students select books during the preview dates and volunteer for cashier times during the week of. Set up and preview happens W-F the week before book fair starts. Fall Book Fair is Sept 19-27th, 2019. Preview dates are Sept 19-20th.
Elliott Fun Run Committee- our main and largest fundraiser for the year. Help advertise, find sponsors, think of incentives for teachers and students, pass out water and mark rotations completed on day of event
Fall Festival/Trunk or Treat Committee-Assist with set-up and tear-down. Think of activities to be held during event, manage cars that sign up, handle awards for decorated trunks, facilitate pizza orders, help with event or assist in finding volunteers to run stations.
Holiday Gift Shop Committee-HGS is held Dec 9-13th, 2019. This event allows our students to shop for their family members during school hours. Also gives 5th grade students an opportunity to experience running a small business. Volunteer needs would be set-up and tear down, running registers, helping 5th grade students come up with store name and display set up, counting revenue, assist shoppers with selections and shopping within their given budget.
PTA Workroom-Elliott PTA supports teachers and staff by laminating any needed materials. Need 3-4 volunteers willing to learn how to use laminator and come in during school day to laminate submitted requests. This is a work room job and no young children are allowed in the work room. Volunteers also cut and staple projects for the teachers.
Hospitality Committee- Assist our hospitality chair with set-up and tear down of various hospitality events held for Elliott staff throughout the year. Help with sign ups and distributing food for event. Assist during Teacher Appreciation Week in May 2020.
Healthy LIfestyle/Environmental Committee-Assist during national walk and bike to school day and 21 day healthy snack challenge. Assist PE/Core teachers as needed to promote health and well being of Elliott community.
Mrs. Andrews Buddies Committee- Assist our school counselor with various duties including helping stock donation closet for students/families in need to shop, angel tree children donations, small groups let by Mrs. Andrew, student council run events, provide extra support for children in need. Due the sensitive nature of this committee respect for confidentiality is essential.
Library Aides Committee-Assist Ms. Bell our librarian during the week. Schedule would be arranged with Ms. Bell.
Reflections/STEAM Committee-Assist our Reflections chair with advertising and promoting PTA''s national fine arts competition. Assist students with submitting entries. Help coordinate with Elliott teachers and arrange a STEAM night in the spring.
Spring Book Fair Committee-Same as fall book fair but help during the spring book fair which will be Feb 6-14th, 2020
Watch D.O.G.S -Assist our "Dads of Great Students" Chair in promoting and encouraging father participation. Help with sign ups, various events like the chili cook off and pizza kick off event.
Party Planning/PTA Events
- Throwback Thursday -Assist our programs chair in advertising and promoting our favorite spring event. Students come to a fun DJ led dance dressed in the fashion of their favorite decade. Families can bring their own dinner or purchase family pizza packs. Volunteers needs include set-up and tear down. Picking up pizza and drinks, taking payment for drinks and pizza.
- End of Year Party- Assist our programs chair in PTA's annual event to celebrate the completion of the year. Help plan activities, arrange food truck vendors and volunteers.
Communication "Thursday Folder" -specific to house color, help each Thursday to stuff red communication folders of classes located in house color. Help with cutting as desired. This is a volunteer role that takes place in the workroom. FISD policy doesn't allow children in the work room.
Room Parent-assist in helping your child's teacher with various class specific help. Needs range from helping plan and run the three themed parties throughout the year (Winter, Valentines, End of Year), decorate bulletin board, let classroom know of volunteer opportunities in the classroom, angel tree donation, teacher birthday and appreciation, arranging at home help when needed and other needs as they come up.
Kindergarten Cafe Coordinator-1-2 parents needed to arrange and distribute sign up to help our newest students during lunch.
Kindergarten Cafe Help-Assist our newest Elliott students during their lunch time at 10:30 am M-F. Sign up when your schedule allows and help open juice, snack boxes and teachers with lunch time.
